consisting of 4 leagues, each playing for its relevant winners

is to develop competitive rugby at 2nd XV (and lower ) level and to
improve the standard and consistency of the Fixture lists of those clubs
taking part

semi-structured season basis. Match days are set out as Saturdays but may
be played on other days by mutual agreement.
5. Notwithstanding the allocated match dates,
re-arrangement by mutual consent is permitted provided all fixtures are
completed by 2nd May, 2009. If agreement cannot be reached between the
two clubs then the fixture WILL take place on the next available
(unallocated) Saturday. Teams
should ensure that reasonable notice is given if fixtures are to be re-arranged
in order that the opposition has ample time to consider the
re-arrangement (reasonable being at least 7 days). If matches are
re-arranged the new date should be confirmed to Steve Appleby
, so that the web-site can be updated.
6. The competition will be run with 3 points awarded for
a Win, 1 for a Draw and 0 for a Loss.
7. The winners of each Division will be the team scoring
the highest number of points as awarded in Rule 6 above. If two or more
teams are level then the points scoring ratio (points for minus points
against) will be used, if still level then the team scoring the most
points will win. The Winners of Division 1 will receive the Canterbury
Shield with the runners-up (of Division 1) a trophy.
All Division winners will receive a playing kit supplied by Canterbury and Division runners-up a set of polo
shirts also supplied by Canterbury.
8. The normal League Regulations applying to the
constitution of the Front Row WILL
NOT APPLY.
Where one side is unable to field a qualified front row the entire match
will be played with uncontested scrums.
(This is an attempt to get a game played wherever possible for the
benefit of all players concerned, however it is expected that clubs will approach this rule in the spirit
that it is meant!! And that teams
expecting to be uncontested should give prior notice to the opposition of
this fact well in advance !)
9. There is no limit on the size of a playing squad for
the Shield games, and therefore no limit on the number of
replacements/substitutions - the aim is to give as many players an
opportunity to play, within the spirit of this rule. However if teams
intend to have a large number of replacements (> 4) agreement from the
opposition must be obtained before the match starts (at time of match confirmation
if possible). In the event that teams cannot agree a maximum of 6 will be
allowed. If teams wish to have rolling substitutions again this should be
agreed prior to the match starting if agreement cannot be reached rolling
substitutions will NOT be allowed.
10. Results MUST
be communicated BY
THE HOME TEAM (and it is useful if the AWAY team reports the result as
well) to David Booth by the Sunday evening (latest) after
the day of the match either by telephone or e-mail, details below.
Failure to do so may see the game declared Void.
11. Teams should endeavour to fulfil the fixture as
arranged. If however the match has to be cancelled please ensure that
adequate notice is given in order that referees and catering can be
notified.
12. Any disputes/enquiries should be referred to the
organising committee identified below:
